*Saajha Sindoor actress Sangita Ghosh travels to Jaipur for Navratri: The main reason isn’t celebration, but my daughter has started school for the first time*
Festivals are a time to spend with loved ones. While it often becomes challenging for actors due to their busy work schedules, actress Sangita Ghosh, currently mesmerising audiences with her powerful performance as Saroj in Sun Neo’s show Saajha Sindoor, recently took a short break from shooting of her show Saajha Sindoor to travel to Jaipur to celebrate the joyous festival of Navratri.
Revealing her special Navratri plans, Sangita Ghosh shared, “This Navratri, I visited Jaipur to spend time with my daughter and in-laws, so my celebrations have been a split between there and Mumbai. I’m back to the bay before Dussehra because I’ve got to shoot for Sun Neo’s Saajha Sindoor. Honestly, if it weren’t for work, I would’ve stayed longer in Jaipur to fully enjoy the festivities with my family. But in this industry, once you commit, there’s no turning back—whether it’s a festival or even if you’re feeling under the weather, you have to keep going and make it work.”
She further added, “The main reason I headed to Jaipur isn’t just to celebrate Navratri—it’s because my little girl, Devi, has started school for the first time! That’s a huge moment I did not want to miss for anything. She’s starting playschool, and while celebrating Navratri with her is a sweet bonus, the real highlight of my trip was watching her take this big step!”
Talking about her connection with the festival, the Saajha Sindoor actress continued, “We celebrate Maa Durga’s puja with all the rituals, and my mom does it in the traditional Bengali way here in Mumbai. For us Bengalis, this festival is really special because it’s not just about the puja but also the cultural events. This year, I’ve prepared some special puja items and sweets, including delicious Bengali treats.”
Sangita Ghosh plays the role of Saroj, the stepmother of Gagan, portrayed by Sahil Uppal in Saajha Sindoor. Her character has a grey shade, which contrasts sharply with her real-life positive personality. Initially, when the role was offered to Sangita, she was sceptical but eventually agreed. “There was a lot of back and forth, and I had to consider my daughter, as I’d be leaving her in Jaipur to travel to Mumbai. I wanted to ensure the role was worth that sacrifice. With my trust in the team, I decided to go for it.”
Saajha Sindoor, airing on Sun Neo every Monday to Saturday at 8 PM, tells the story of Phooli, a young woman who is labelled an ‘unmarried widow’ after her groom dies on their wedding day. The show also features Sahil Uppal, Stuti Vinkle, Krutika Desai, and Nasirr Khan, among others.
